From April 29 to 30, 2025, the 2025 International Symposium on Commercial Vehicle and Heavy Truck Active Safety Technology was successfully held in Chongqing. Guangzhou ZEER Test Technology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with UK-based AB Dynamics, took part in the event, engaging with global technical experts, industry leaders, and regulators to discuss the development and future of commercial vehicle active safety technology.
Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) are a vital component of any thriving economy. However, despite continuous improvements in technical standards, HGVs continue to be involved in a higher proportion of road fatalities compared to passenger vehicles. In response, Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) has launched a comprehensive safety rating programme aimed at evaluating the safety performance of modern HGVs. This two-day symposium introduced the Euro NCAP HGV assessment programme, provided background and details on testing procedures, and demonstrated how state-of-the-art testing equipment—supported by international suppliers—can be deployed effectively.

During the conference, Mr. Andrew Pick from AB Dynamics delivered an in-depth presentation on streamlining Euro NCAP heavy vehicle testing processes. He highlighted ABD’s driving robots, drive pads, and target systems, explaining how these advanced tools improve efficiency and accuracy in meeting Euro NCAP regulatory test scenarios. This end-to-end solution not only enhances test repeatability and data consistency but also significantly reduces variability from manual operations. By aligning the technical demonstration with regulatory standards, attendees gained a clearer understanding of how the solution supports both compliance and testing efficiency.
In addition, Mr. An Changjiang from ZEER Testing was interviewed on site, providing a comprehensive overview of ZEER’s one-stop service capabilities in active safety testing. On April 30, Mr. Li Shuzheng, Product and Technology Director of ZEER, along with the ZEER Chongqing technical team, conducted a live vehicle demonstration. They illustrated how ABD’s driving robots, drive pads, and target systems accurately simulate HGV responses in Euro NCAP test scenarios. Throughout the demonstration, regulatory experts and technical staff worked closely together to provide detailed explanations of each procedure, ensuring that clients understood not only how the technology works but also the intent behind the regulations and testing standards.
More than just a technical exhibition, the symposium served as a push for industry standardization. Through in-depth interpretation of Euro NCAP requirements combined with real-world testing cases, participants gained a clearer view of the alignment between technological implementation and regulatory demands.
