Bradford-upon-Avon, UK, June 22, 2026, Following the approval of the Child Soft Pedestrian 360™, Euro NCAP has now officially included AB Dynamics’ full range of ADAS test dummies in its list of approved equipment. Developed by its sister company DRI, the Soft Pedestrian 360™ (Child Version) is a highly realistic and durable test target designed specifically for testing collision avoidance and AEB systems involving child pedestrians.
This approval means that AB Dynamics’ entire range of test targets is now officially authorized for testing in Euro NCAP laboratories. The test targets manufactured by DRI include pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, and vehicle surrogates. AB Dynamics also offers a full range of certified ADAS platforms, including the SPT™ belt-driven platform, the self-propelled LaunchPad™ VRU platform series, and the GST™ vehicle platform.

The Soft Pedestrian 360 (Child Version) is the latest product to receive Euro NCAP testing approval. This product was developed to meet the growing demand for more representative child pedestrian dummies in safety testing. It employs the same modular architecture as the adult version, thereby reducing the weight of individual components, and the servo motors controlling the articulated legs are fully encapsulated in foam material. This design ensures there are no exposed hard points and reduces the risk of damage to the test vehicle.
To enhance realism, the test dummy utilizes an in-house developed radar and lidar measurement system, validated through extensive closed-course testing, to fine-tune its reflective characteristics. The dummy also employs an age-specific gait that mimics a child’s walking pattern. Its movement automatically synchronizes with the test dummy’s position, speed, and acceleration relative to the starting point. These comprehensive measures ensure that the test dummy accurately replicates the characteristics of a child pedestrian to sensor-based detection systems.
